Location. The McMillan Inn Bed & Breakfast is located in the historic district of Savannah, Ga., two blocks from Forsyth Park. Historic homes within one mile include the Andrew Low House, Davenport House Museum and the Owens Thomas House. The bed and breakfast is approximately one mile from River Street, which offers a variety of shops and restaurants along the Savannah River.
Features. This restored Italianate Revival town house, built in 1888, features period antiques and furnishings. Complimentary gourmet breakfasts are served each morning on a French burled olive ash table in the formal dining room. The parlor offers a fireplace, CD player and a library of CDs. The front veranda, with wicker furniture and a porch swing, is an inviting spot to enjoy morning coffee and read the newspaper. The courtyard features flower gardens, a cherub fountain and a dipping pool. Pets are not allowed at the property.
Guestrooms. The McMillan Inn Bed & Breakfast offers four guestrooms with private bathrooms. Select rooms feature claw foot tubs, a two person jetted tub or over sized shower. All accommodations feature gas fireplaces, antiques and artwork. Coffeemakers and mini fridges stocked with complimentary soft drinks and bottled water are provided. The Huntingdon Room and Lincoln Room offer four poster canopy beds. All rooms include cable television and DVD players.
Expert Tip. Forsyth Park, located two blocks from the inn, was created in the 1840s and expanded to 30 acres in 1851. A fountain erected in 1858 was designed to resemble the grand fountain at the Place de la Concorde in Paris. The park is home to the Confederate Soldier, Marine Corps and Spanish American monuments, and the Fragrant Garden for the Blind. Spanish moss hanging from huge old live oak trees forms a canopy over paths through the park. Outdoor plays, concerts and sporting events are held on the park's former military parade grounds.
