Location. The Booker Lewis House is located in the historic district of Leesville, La., just off US 171. The Leesville Country Club golf course is one and one half miles away. The inn is eight miles from Fort Polk. Features. Built in 1905, this historic Queen Anne style home was completely renovated in 2001, and features 12 foot ceilings and an antique piano and organ. The inn is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Complimentary country style breakfasts are served in the dining room or in the guestrooms. Lunch is provided upon request for a fee. Complimentary beverages, wine and cheese are available upon request. Complimentary wireless Internet access is provided throughout the inn, and two conference rooms are available for meetings. The bed and breakfast offers a porch stretching across the front of the house, a back porch and a patio. The original windowpanes and Louisiana yellow pine door facings, walls and floors are featured throughout the house. Four pocket doors and the light fixtures in the dining room and foyer are also original to the home. Guests are invited to relax in a sunroom with wicker furniture and a great room featuring high ceilings and large windows. Movie videos, books and board games are available in the library. Pets are not allowed at the property.
Guestrooms. Guestrooms at the Booker Lewis House boast a unique decor with quilts, artwork, hardwood floors, writing desks, antiques and antique reproductions reflecting the old world charm of 1905. All rooms offer cable television, complimentary wireless Internet access and ceiling fans. Baskets with thick towels and travel necessities, and bathrobes are provided in all rooms. All rooms feature private bathrooms. The property also offers the Officer's Quarters, a cottage built for WWII Army officers, and two apartments in a restored 1900s building. The cottage and apartments feature ranges, dishwashers, microwave ovens, garbage disposals, refrigerators, and washers and dryers.
Expert Tip. The Museum of West Louisiana, located one and one half miles from the property, displays artifacts depicting the history, culture, folk art, and resources of Vernon Parish and the West Central area of the Louisiana Territory.
